Horizon Scholarship Information
The Junior League of Murfreesboro (JLM) is an organization of women in Rutherford County committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. We have a diverse group of women building a better community through a commitment to advocacy, leadership, multiculturalism, and a commitment to children. Each year the JLM awards this scholarship to a high school senior woman who is a resident of Rutherford County, accepted to and attending a four year college/university, and exhibits strong leadership through exemplary volunteerism in her school, church, and/or community. The young woman should be entering college in the fall of 2019 and have a 3.25 or higher grade average. The award of $1,500.00 is granted for one semester and is renewable for an additional seven semesters, or a potential total of $12,000. Renewal of this scholarship will be assessed at the end of each semester between the scholarship recipient and the Scholarship Committee.
